I had some real high hopes for her as a player. She is currently #1 in the world and seems to be the physically strongest player out there today. Mentally she has a glass jaw. Venus Williams had her beat before they stepped out on the court. She is obviously still reeling from her French Open loss to Kuznetsova and was mentally not even in the building for her 6 – 1, 6 – 0 loss to Venus in the Wimbledon Semi Finals today.

Safina looked defeated even when she won points (as few and far between as they were). Frustrated and ready to give up would be the best way to explain how she looked during the 51 minute semi final.

Venus was her usual well polished self. She didn’t do anything spectacular, just kept herself together and played her game. The numbers will show that she played outstanding, but it was more the fact that Safina played awful.
